The True Cost Of Space Flight

This album is about the worst tragedy to our space heroes. In this case we could only say that hubris has led to the destruction of many talented people. We are intent on people knowing about what happened that fateful day at the lovely Baikonur Kosmodrome on October 24 1960.

That day there was supposed to be a test of a new rocket type and new rocket fuel. Things should have gone fine, but multiple mistakes led to the deaths of over two hundred of our comrades.

While that is tragic enough it was the hubris of Marshal Nedelin that is to blame for this tragedy. He was not a rocket engineer, yet designed these rockets, and that is why his name is part of the tragedy.

His ballad is one of pain and anguish for all the space souls lost on that terrible day.
