Night Friends began in the Spring of 2003. The name "Night Friends" was actually inspired by standing in line at the post office in Pennsylvania and noticing a packet of bat stamps called, "Night Friends". The plan had been for the project to be under the name "The Bats" but it was discovered that there was already a band with that name in New Zealand. The project is an aural love letter to the beauty of the night. It's dedicated to friends, ghosts, enemies, moths, dark alleys, bats, urban decay, cool tempratures, star gazing, and other activities that can be achieved in a night atmosphere. Night Friends is currently located in Austin, TX. The project is made up of Justin Phillip Sweatt and a revolving door of collaborators throughout the region. Night Friends is currently busy at work on a new full length album, a cassette release, and booking some shows in and out of Austin.

"Decorations In A Ruined City" Thirteen songs dedicated to the wonderful city of New Orleans. The songs were inspired by all of the happy times that were felt while visiting the city. "NachtFreunde" Seven songs that were inspired by artists of the kraut rock movement. Artists such as Brian Eno, Cluster, Can, Neu!, Harmonia, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schultz, and Tangerine Dream are paid tribute to their amazing contributions to the music world at large on this release.
